A few local golfers recently took top honors in a couple area events, they are as follows:

Connie Shorb won the Women’s York County Amateur Golf Association’s Senior Championship recently by shooting a winning score of 77 at Country Club of York.

Shorb bested her nearest competitor, Ruth Stover, by six shots. Susan Seifert finished third with a score of 84 and Marie Shalkey’s 85 rounded out the top five.

Shorb, if you recall, is fresh off winning her impressive 31st WYCAGA Championship on June 21.

Sherri Strathmeyer‘s 67 was good enough to capture the Net Division crown. Second through fifth were Leslie Atkins (70), Kelly Farrell (71), Shelly Stallsmith (72) and Kim Woolley.

Betty Winner was the Super Senior championship with an 87, giving her a one-shot victory over Donna Ensor. Bev Miller, 96, was third; followed by Carolyn Karge’s 97 and Sue Joiner’s 98.

Andrew Davis had the best round of the day in winning his division and Kevin Crumbling won a five-way playoff in Monday’s York County Junior Golf Association event at Hanover Country Club.

Davis, a rising sophomore at Eastern York High School, posted a 75 to win the 15-18 White Division by four strokes over runner-up Ryan DePorter. Zach Dixon was third and Michael Renga was fourth in the division.

In the 15-18 Blue Division, Crumbling, a rising sophomore at Red Lion, shot a 78 and then emerged victorious after three holes of sudden death. Also shooting 78 and making the playoff were Michael Bair, Evan Johnson, Connor Bacha and Nicholas Geiman.

There was also a playoff in the 14 White Division, where Justin Gruver won after two holes of sudden death against Eli Brooks and Mason Staub. The trio had shot 81s during their round. Carson Bacha shot an 83 to finish fourth.

The girls’ division Monday was won by Victoria Ross, who shot an 87. She was followed by Julianne Lee and Jennifer Gentry.

Bev Markey captured her second straight Ladies Club Championship at Heritage Hills Golf Resort on June 22 with a score of 86.

Markey edged her nearest competitor by one stroke.

Congrats to all the winners!
